Help Inside the Hard Hat

The construction industry has the highest male suicide rate over any other industry, and every single day TWO construction workers take their own life; we want to be a part of the life changing work that Lighthouse Construction Charity are doing to change these figures.

Burmor Construction are committed to ensuring that all workers on our project, whether direct employed staff or sub-contractors, have a safe space and the means to reach out if they need support. We understand that these conversations are difficult to have but by signposting, training, raising awareness, and making it a part of our daily conversation, we hope to make a difference to those who may be silently suffering.

By getting teams on site to sign up to the Construction Industry Helpline App, we can be sure that they will be provided with free, confidential support for themselves and, just as importantly, their families. There is a breadth of resource available 24/7 in the form of emotional, physical, and financial support.

We already have staff on hand who are preparing to become Mental Health First Aiders and are collaborating and working with our clients to start the delivery of on-site toolbox talks, and visit sites to be seen and accessible to those who might need support.

The Help Inside the Hard Hat campaign will be visible on hoardings across our projects, raising awareness of the charity and their 100% focus on the welfare of industry workers.
