Here at Burmor Construction, we believe that every person deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. As part of our ongoing efforts to give back to the local community, we are excited to announce a fundraising initiative focused on improving the living conditions in deprived areas.

Why This Initiative Matters

Social housing plays a critical role in providing stability and opportunity for individuals and families who are most in need. Unfortunately, many areas across the country, including communities in Peterborough continue to face severe housing shortages, substandard living conditions, and a lack of resources for those who need it most. By investing in the communities surrounding social housing, we aim to improve not just the physical infrastructure, but the quality of life for countless families and individuals in vulnerable situations.

Our mission is to create positive, lasting change by supporting initiatives that address these critical challenges.

A Vision for the Future

We’re committed to building more than just homes. We are focused on building hope, opportunity, and long-term solutions for the most disadvantaged in our society. Our ongoing fundraising initiative is an important step toward creating a better future for those who need it most, and with your support, we can make a real difference.

First Fundraising Event:

TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

Burmor Construction managed to raise £3050 through participation in the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on the 9th March 2025 as our first fundraising event through our new community project 'Help for Homes'.

The donations made will really make a difference and help drive our commitment to supporting local social housing residents and deprived communities in the City of Peterborough. Our chosen charities for this fundraising event were Carezone and The Peterborough Foodbank.

About Carezone:

Care Zone, run by KingsGate Community Church in Peterborough, help families in crisis to access high quality donations of furniture and household goods, as well as providing showers, clothing and household furnishings. They also look to help raise aspirations & ambitions by providing volunteering placements & work experience for people who are looking to increase their employability or make a positive difference in the community. Their mission, as well as ours, is to address the impact of poverty by providing practical support, care and compassion to the most vulnerable in the city.

Peterborough Foodbank:

Peterborough Foodbank is a partnership of local faith groups that work together to tackle food poverty. We are part of the Trussell Trust Network.

Peterborough Foodbank prepares three days worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food donated by the local community which is given out to those referred by frontline care professionals, including doctors, schools and social workers. We currently have over 250 referral workers.

The Food Pantry:

The KingsGate Food Pantry offers dignity, choice and friendship to families struggling against poverty by offering nutritious, affordable food at reduced cost. A volunteer team run the Food Pantry and they are building a warm, welcoming Community Hub that not only provides healthy food but also provides signposting and support for the families to address other challenges they may be facing.

By helping people with their food costs, they are better ableto manage their finances, as well as being given the opportunity to be able to afford to eat fresh vegetables and fruit, dairy items and try new things.

Help support Burmor:

Every donation, no matter how big or small, is a step toward creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Your support helps people find stability, children reach their potential, and communities regain strength. Together, we can pave the way for lasting change.

Second fundraising event:

Burmor Construction Annual Football Tournament

The Burmor Construction Annual Football Tournament is back!

Last year, nearly £3000 was raised for the two chosen charities, British Heart Foundation and The UK Sepsis Trust which is a figure that had increased from the previous year’s proceeds. This year, we look to raise vital funds again through our 'Help for Homes' fundraising campaign that has already seen success via our first event where a team of 9 ran the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 9th March, raising £3000. Burmor have already seen donations go to organisations such as Carezone and The Peterborough Food Bank, however are always on the look out to support further charities that need help the most.

Businesses can support this event by either entering their teams, sponsoring or simply just donating to the cause. Find out more about this event by contacting jack.wycherley@burmor.co.uk.
