There is more to construction…
At Burmor, our team are much more than their roles as Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, and the office based team that support in running the business on a day to day basis.
We encourage our staff to diversify and harness their passions - particularly when it is inspiring new talent into our great industry! Our Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, Ciara, is a student member of The Chartered Institute of Building and represents their Tomorrow’s Leaders Community in the Cambridge region. She was recently offered the opportunity to attend a festival in London, Women of the World, inspiring generations of women through peer to peer guidance and career advice.
Ciara was shoulder to shoulder with Vice-President of the CIOB, Sandi Rhys-Jones, Head of EDI, Mark Harrison, and Acting Product Owner for Tomorrow’s Leaders, Sophie Cox. She spent the afternoon speaking with inspirational women from across the world, discussing their goals and aspirations and sharing her own journey and what cemented her decision to become a Quantity Surveyor.
For those of us who have found our place within construction, we know that it is far more than muddy sites and PPE, but we need to start challenging those external misconceptions and changing the story to showcase the vast opportunities that are available, and encourage the industry to start telling stories from within; we are diversifying, we are developing, and construction is taking steps toward positive change.
Well done Ciara!
