Community Support at Beaupre Community Primary School: Enhancing Green Spaces for a Brighter Future

At Burmor Construction, we believe that giving back to the community is not just a responsibility but an opportunity to make a lasting impact. One of the ways we demonstrate this commitment is through our volunteering efforts, this time, at Beaupre Community Primary School. As part of our dedication to fostering positive change in the communities we serve, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside the school to improve their green spaces, creating an environment that benefits the students, teachers, and families alike.

A collaborative effort to enhance learning environments

Last Thursday, our 4 willing volunteers (Patrick Burke - Director, Georgia Freeman - Retrofit lead + Quantity Surveyor, Jack Wycherley - Assistant Business Manager and Pete Boekestyn - Gardener/Landscaper) worked closely with the school to improve their outdoor areas that not only serve as spaces for recreational activities but also provide educational opportunities. By transforming neglected areas such as their willow trail and woodland area we feel we have left behind lush, green spaces, that now provide the children with a more stimulating environment in which to learn, explore, and grow.

Mikaila Monck (Deputy Head Teacher and Woodland Lead) - “Hi Jack, Thanks again to everyone for all your hard work yesterday, we are so grateful!”

Patrick Burke (Director at Burmor Construction) - “What a good day! Put me down for the next one.”

Transforming a green space that inspires and educates

The project began with a shared vision: to transform a space that encourages students to connect with nature, learn about sustainability, and engage in physical activity. Together, we planted new plants, bulbs and bee-bombs, upcycled seating areas for outdoor learning, and created spaces where children can take part in hands-on environmental education by installing hammocks, a slack rope and heavy duty tarpaulin as well as a complete overhaul of the willow trail. These improvements not only provide a beautiful backdrop for daily activities but also support the school’s curriculum by fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.

Looking to the future

The green space project at Beaupre Community Primary School is just the beginning of our ongoing commitment to community support. We believe in the power of collaboration and are excited to continue our efforts to create meaningful, lasting change. Through volunteering, sustainable practices, and a dedication to helping others, we hope to inspire more people to get involved in their local communities and make a positive difference in the lives of those around them. By investing in the community today, we’re helping to build a brighter tomorrow for everyone.
