World Mental Health Day 2024 - ‘Time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’

This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day was ‘Time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’. World Mental Health Day is a chance to raise awareness and drive positive change for everyone’s mental health. Workplaces are a fundamental part of creating a society where everyone's mental health matters.  Since MHFA England®’s founding, this has been at their very heart. With 6 members of our workforce being qualified mental health first aiders through MHFA England, we thought we would embrace this theme across our business by providing all site workers on all our sites with breakfast to show how valued each and every one of them are and remind them that their wellbeing is our priority not just today, but always!

We want to give a special mention to all the businesses for their help and support, who together provided over 300 breakfast baps to feed our 15 live sites across the East of England this morning.
These were The Black Bull at Kirton, Café Highgate at Willingham, Morenos at Litlington, The Old Paper Shop at Crowland, The Green Welly at Chatteris, Curlys Café at Stanground, The Local Café at Fenstanton, Swaffham Café, Coles Sandwich Bar at March, Fillings Café at Oakham and Joanne’s Pantry at Outwell. Many offered discounted rates, complimentary sauces and even hot drinks.

Megan Bemrose and Jack Wycherley as part of the Mental Health First Aid Team, who organised this event, were delighted with how it went on the day with every single person being looked after throughout the wider team.

Finally, a big thank you to our directors Patrick Burke and Luke Boekestyn who supported this initiative from the start with Patrick cooking breakfast for all the staff at Head Office.

Our ‘10am on the 10th Burmor Breakfast and Break’ was well received as you’ll be able to see by the selection of photos shared. The Mental Health First Aiders will be following up this event, by visiting each site in the next few weeks to continue to spread awareness about Mental Health.
