Topping out with Teddy
Yesterday, our project on Isle Road got a very special visit from Teddy and his parents. Teddy and his family have had their plot secured on site for a while now, and as part of the transition plan Burmor have put in place for Teddy, the family were able to pop along to site in the stunning sunshine to see the progress of late including the timber frame instalment which shows their home really taking shape.
Teddy has Autism and is Non-verbal, so it has been very important from the start and a priority of ours that we accommodate these visits to allow him to transition from his current place of residence to his future home. One common struggle for children with Autism is change, therefore from the beginning we have communicated with Teddy’s mum, Francesca, to arrange visits and send updates including photos and videos for Teddy’s portfolio so he can start to process this move, way before it actually happens.
This was his second visit to the site and it signified an important milestone for Burmor and Freebridge too, as now more than 50% of the timber frames have been erected onto the plots.
What did Francesca (Teddy’s mum) have to say?
Thank you for inviting us up to site again today so we can see the progress of our house. You have no idea how much this will help Teddy transition when we do move. He loves coming onto site and seeing all the diggers and dumpers. He gets very excited putting his hi vis and hard hat on and for a child like Teddy who's non verbal and has Autism, seeing all this visually is the only way he will understand what's happening. He has loved watching the videos of the crane building our house. Thank you for making this is all as easy for Teddy as possible it means the world to us.
As Isle Road continues to progress and reach further milestones, we’ll be inviting Teddy and co back to the site, until they eventually move in and enjoy the much needed extra space. A big thank you goes to our site manager, Carl Green, for helping organise the visit.
Just look at how much it means to Teddy (photos below).
